The 41st Daytime Emmys live stream event a success with Y&R leading in trophys


Last night turned out to be a winning night for CBS and the number one soap opera, The Young and the Restless.

Y&R won as the Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Writing Team for a Drama Series.and they also took the trophy for Outstanding Special Class Special for its Jeanne Cooper Tribute at NATAS’ 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Y&R received six Emmys during the first ever streaming event held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Their six Emmys led the soaps as in the acting categories, Billy Miller received his last trophy with The Young and the Restless winning his first ever Lead Actor in a Drama Series award for his truly memorable portrayal of Billy Abbott. This was Billy's first lead actor as he had won two Daytime Emmys as Supporting actor in the past.
The truly wonderful Amelia Heinle won her first Emmy as Supporting actress and Hunter Haley King won the Younger Actress Award.

Days of Our Lives took home the Best Supporting Trophy when Eric Marstolf took home his first Emmy for his portrayal of the drug addicted Brady Black.

And finally, Eileen Davidson received her first ever Emmy as the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance as Kristen DiMera on Days of our Lives. She also plays Ashley Abbott on Y&R. The crowd stood and gave her a well deserved standing ovation .

The Younger Actor category went to Chandler Massey, his third in a row for his very memorable performance of Will Horton on Days of our Lives. Massey left the soap back in November.

Crystal Chappell the “Rennaisance Woman” of soaps received the first ever trophy for Outstanding New Approaches Drama Series for Venice!

Prospect Park’s and TOLN’s One Life to Live’ took home the trophy for Outstanding Directing Team.for a Drama Series. .

The first ever live streaming show took off to a rocky start with camera and Social Media hosts problems, but once the awards started it turned out to be a sophisticated and classy event with all of the presenters and winners treating it like the special event it was. A night of honoring the best in Daytime!

Congratulations to all who work so hard over 300 day a year to bring us the much beloved and longest appearing genre on television. as Eric Marstoff proclaimed. Here’s to the resurgence of soaps!
