A Brunch in Buford, how can that happen it has a population of 1, well come to Buford May 14 and you can see it happening for yourself?
Starting at 10:00 a.m. you will see many geocachers converge on the huge town of Buford, WY for the 3rd Annual Brunch in Buford: Population 1 (also known at the “Breezin and Freezin” as the weather has not always been nice). The event is just what is says it is, it is a brunch where all of the attendees bring a dish to share with everyone and we eat and enjoy each other’s company.
The first event happened the first Saturday of May in 2009, last year’s event was held the second Saturday of May in hopes of better weather, it did not happen but all that came to the event had a good time.
There is one big difference in this year’s event from years past, this year the Buford event is a WAG sanctioned event. This is something that has not happened in the past but having the backing of the official state geocaching organization opens up all new possibilities for the event.
One thing that will be done at the event this year that has not been done in the past is we will be voting on our new WAG Vice President, to vote you have to be a member of WAG but you can join WAG right at the event.
We will also have a raffle at the event with most of the proceeds going to Gary’s Kids. Gary Rhodd was the WAG President to start off the year. WAG lost Gary after a battle with cancer on January 26, 2011; Gary had two young kids.
What everyone looks forward to the most at any event is the new caches that are hid for the event. This event will be no different as there will be new caches hid in the area for you to find. These new hides will be available first to those who attend the event. So if you are a first to find hound or are looking to get your 1st first to find you can better your chances by showing up in Buford.
So if on May 14 you do not have anything else planned be sure to make your way to Buford and have a bite to eat, make some new friends and maybe learn a new hobby that you enjoy.
If you are already a cacher you should just come because you already know that the more the merrier and the more fun you can have.
