The 36th Annual Gate River Run

The Gate River Run will be on Saturday, March 9th at 8:30 a.m. which is the largest 15k in the United States. The race starts on Gator Bowl Blvd and finishes adjacent to the EverBank Field. A large post race party will be held at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds. The Gate River Run is one of Jacksonville's premiere annual event and thousands of runners participate ever year.

The Gate River Run offers something for everyone. The Florida Times Union 5k Run and Walk for Charity at 8:30 a.m.; 15k National Championship at 8:30 a.m.; Adidas Junior River Run for Children 13 and under; Brooks Rehab Challenge Mile at 10:30 a.m.; Diaper Dashes for up to age 4 and a three day Fitness Expo. All events begin and end at the Jacksonville Sports Complex.

Entries for the Gate River Run 15k are on record pace, according to the race director Doug Alfred. Entries are 11.8 percent ahead of 2012, when a total of 23,000 runners and walkers participated in the race.

The winner of the race will recieve $85,000, including bonus money for the record breaking performances. The Gate River Run has more prize money than any major non marathon event in the United States. Medals are given to all the 15k finishers.
