The Winter Film Awards consists of a short film competition and screening, and a three-day indie film festival. The short film competition began December 6th with the 48-Hour Film Challenge. Filmmakers across the country received a tagline, prop, and genre, and had only 48 hours to write a screenplay, assemble cast and crew, rehearse, film, and edit their submissions. The results and subsequent awards will be presented Saturday, December 14th from 7-11 p.m. at Blondies Sports Bar (212 W. 79th St.).
Winning films will also be screened at the Winter Film Awards Independent Film Festival, February 27-March 1, 2014. Submission categories are Narrative Feature, Foreign Language, Narrative Short, Documentary, Animation, Music Video, Horror, and Screenplay, and the deadline for submission is December 15th!
The Winter Film Awards is a volunteer-run organization that celebrates the diversity of local and international film-making. In addition to the 48-Hour Film Challenge and Independent Film Festival, they host 4-6 events annually in NYC-- including panel discussions, networking parties, archival cartoon screenings, and other film-related events.
