The 2nd Annual NYC Vegetarian Food Festival heats up next weekend

Ironman triathelete Brendan Brazier will be one of the experts to speak at the 2nd Annual New York City Vegetarian Food Festival. Brazier won 2 Canadian ultramarathon championships, in 2003 and 2006. His achievements were fueled by a plant-based diet and since retiring from professional sports; he has developed his own vegan food line, called Vega.

Another speaker on tap for the Food Festival is vegan life coach Ellen Jaffe Jones. Jones migrated to a vegan lifestyle in an attempt to overcome various medical problems that run in her family. She will speak on how to follow a healthy diet for just $4 per day.

Examining veganism from a different angle, the Festival will also showcase Dr. Naina Marballi and Amita Banerjee, proponents of the science of Ayurveda. Marballi trained at the Podar Ayurvedic Center for Research at Mumbai University in India and formed the Bioticare’s Ayurvedic Esthetics & Cosmetology Institute, where Banerjee was her first student. The duo will speak on how Ayurveda allows one to optimize skills and wellness through a vegetarian diet.

More than 25 speakers and entertainers will be featured at the two-day Food Festival. Additionally, there will be 90 vendors of vegan food and lifestyle products. Cooking demonstrations, belly dancing classes, and a giveaway to win a weeklong vegan sailing vacation in the Virgin Islands will also be presented.

On the evening of March 3rd, the Festival will host a special VIP event, which will include a performance by the sizzling new band, Dynasty Electric. Composed of multi-instrumentalist Seth Misterka and lead singer Jenny Electrik, the band’s music has been described as mysterious and hypnotic. The evening will also include a screening of “Vegucated,” an award-winning documentary that follows three “meat and cheese” loving New Yorkers who agree to adopt a vegan diet for six weeks.

The 2nd Annual NYC Vegetarian Food Festival will take place March 3-4, 10AM-5PM at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan, 125 W. 18th Street, New York City. For more information on the NYC Vegetarian Food Festival, please check out http://nycvegfoodfest.com/.
