Award recipient Uma Thurman stars in Motherhood.
I remember when the Boston Film Festival was held at the Copley Square Theatre. After that location closed, it was moved to the AMC theatre on Boston Common. The festival stopped happening for several years, but has recently been revived in a new location and under new management. This year marks the BFF's 25th year, and is taking place at the Kendall Square Cinema.
This years festival, being held from September 18th to 24th, is sure to be an exciting one, with appearances from actors Uma Thurman (the Boston-born actress is receiving the Film Excellence Award on Friday night), John Heard, Olympia Dukakis, Aidan Quinn, Campbell Scott. Jamey Sheridan, and Jeffrey Nordling, among others.
Premieres include feature films Handsome Harry, Love Hurts, In/Significant Others, and Uma Thurman's Motherhood. The program also includes plenty of short films and documentaries (including the controversial My Big Break, and the award-winning short documentary Hove-The Wind starring Ms. Dukakis). Awards will be announced in a number of categories. A complete schedule of films being screened can be found here. Tickets and passes are available for purchase at the Kendall Square Cinema.
I've been lucky enough to preview a number of the films that will be showing during the festival and will be offering my reviews and previews throughout this coming week. The festival starts tomorrow night with a screening of Motherhood at 7 pm, followed at 9:30 pm by a celebration and the ceremony presenting Uma Thurman with her Excellence Award.
