The 21-21 Challenge
Ever think about changing or breaking a habit? Ever wish you hadn’t said that or done that, again? Ever wish making changes weren’t so hard?
The 21 Habits in 21 Days Challenge is an opportunity for you to look at 21 Habits that you would like to lose, break or replace and in a matter of only 21 days Research has demonstrated that it takes approximately 21 days to break or create a new habit. Are you ready? Be prepared cause you will get results:
What you’ll need: What this looks like: On Day Two ,choose another behavior you wish to omit , alter, or take on. Continue working with the behavior from Day One, only now you add on the behavior from Day two. It is best to keep a journal and remind yourself of the previous day’s habits. I have found this process to be so freeing and as I continued it, more and more space became available for new and improved conversations. My energy increased and my desire to take on new activities and challenges strengthened and grew with each day. I’ve compiled a list of some common habits that we all may share so that you get a sense of what is possible when these habits are out of your life.
1. notebook/notepad , journal
2. 21 habits to lose, break or replace
3. 21 days to a new you
On Day One, declare which habit you would like to give up, replace or be done with for good.
Record it in your journal and then carry on with the rest of your day. When you see yourself going to this habit, notice it and stop it. Refrain from assuming the behavior you are attempting to break. You will notice that each time the behavior appears you will become more and more aware of it and being aware and determined to do something about it is the first step.
On Day Three, you choose a new behavior that you wish to either acquire or remove. You add this new behavior to the behaviors from from day one, two and now day three.
This continues until you have reached 21 days and 21 habits to break or create.
Habits to lose :
1. complaining ( give up complaining in all forms . This can be at the gym during a difficult exercise , a work situation, or people in your life.
2. gossiping ( imagine not talking about anyone anymore? I’ve been asked how do I know if it’s gossip? My answer, “ Would you say that if the person were next to you? “ Intent also determines whether you are gossiping or just sharing.
3. fixing people ( telling people what they need to be doing or thinking or saying)
4. worrying ( this is so freeing when omitted from you day )
5. procrastinating ( wow is all I can say to this one. Can you see what is possible? )
and the list goes on for 16 more habits to break or create. I have found this exercise to be really fun when I do it with a friend. You have each other’s support and it becomes fun, and freeing. The beauty of this exercise is that it begins to pay off for everyone around you. Your energy will shift. People will notice the difference and you will even begin to look and feel younger, more vibrant and healthier. It is so worth taking on. I invite you all to do to 21-21 Challenge and then report back. I’d love to hear all the great things that have opened up for you in your life by taking this on.
