Audi has completely revamped the A3 line for North America. In fact: the design of the 2015 Audi A3 was specifically built for U.S. buyers - according to Audi. The 2015 Audi A3 comes standard as a four door sedan that's about the same size as the Audi A4 a few generations back. Still, it's pretty small.
Backseat room is on the compact side, yet the base price for the front-drive, entry-level A3 is just under $30,000.
A 170 horsepower, 1.8T turbocharged four-cylinder makes 200 lb-ft of torque and comes as standard equipment in the base, front-wheel drive (FWD) model. All 2015 Audi A3s get the six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Despite the "cheaper" price, the FWD 2015 Audi A3 drives like a premium, small European sedan.
The 220 hp 2015 Audi A3 with 2.0T turbo makes 258 lb-ft of torque and comes standard with Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive system. This is the small sedan Coloradans want. It drives smooth, confident and provides just a bit of whimsy. Sadly, no manual transmission is offered. Prices for the 2.0-liter Quattro hover around the mid $30,000 mark before options drive the price to the $40,000 range.
Keep in mind: the price-point for the 2015 Audi A3 is very competitive with the Mercedes-Benz CLA.
In this video, The Fast Lane Car puts the 2015 Audi A3 through its paces in Northern California. We enjoyed making this video, but the real test will come when Audi gives us the new A3 to test in Colorado.
