All you need to know about what’s hot in kitchen and bath can be summed up in one word:
The annual Kitchen & Bath Industry Show or KBIS, as it’s called, is like Fashion Week for the kitchen and bath industry, showcasing all the latest industry products, design trends and technologies. Everyone from designers, architects and bloggers are there to get a sneak peek on what’s hot for the coming year. I was there all week and these were some of the buzziest products in the show. Check out this video, with my favorite items.
Dekton is a product manufactured by Cosentino. The first of it’s kind, this product is sure to revolutionize the remodeling industry. A surface that is practically heat resistant, scratch resistant and can be used for either indoor or outdoor applications. So, the same gorgeous countertops can be used for a dreamy outdoor kitchen, as well. Their showroom was buzzing with designers, bloggers and I even met Lydia and Robert Mondavi, Jr. (who couldn’t have been nicer) there and spoke with them about their decision to use Cosentino in their new home.
Kohler Tailored Vanity Collection
Kohler has entered into the furniture market..sort of. Their new collection, the Tailored Vanity Collection is brand new and postioned to take the guesswork out of piecing together all the different components of a bathroom set up. You pick your vanity, your shelving, your electrical outlet locations, lighting and mirror in one shot. It comes in a wide variety of styles and finishes and the $700 starting price makes it worth checking out even if you’re an entry level buyer.
Martin Lawrence Bullard for Ann Sacks
Get ready to swoon, people. Martin Lawrence Bullard has managed to take tile design to a whole other level with his brand new line at Ann Sacks. Moroccan influences, texture and a mix of modern and vintage vibes made this one of the busiest booths in the show. My favorite was the Majurabi tiles. Calgon take me away!
The 2 In 1 Refrigerator from Frigidaire has a tiny switch inside that changes it from a fridge to a freezer (or vice versa) in six hours! Not only is it perfect for entertaining and storage but the new slate grey finish make it far more attractive than that rank scratch and dent thing most of us have in our garages. Coming in at $999, I’m calling it right now as a major hit in 2014.
From glam and sophisticated blacks and modern fixtures to “authentic”, which is apparently what they’re now calling modern rustic, this booth had some of the most beautiful cabinetry in the show. Their pricing went from entry level to fully custom and the color grey is back and way more fabulous than it sounds! The looks are updated but seem to maintain a “homey” feel because of the tones and styles.
Are you ready? A washer dryer pair that does your washes and dries your clothes in 29 minutes! Yes, you read that correctly. While the Electrolux rep informed me that cycle is not recommended for your kids soiled soccer uniform or the heaviest loads, I’ll take it! Also,we loved the slate grey shade which I’m sure will be a big hit on Pinterest for all those Laundry Room Pinners!
All in all, there were too many amazing products to list. I saw everything from toilets with night lights to stoves that work with your iPhone. After a few tiring years of seeing the same products relaunched in another color labeled, “Brand New!”, this year actually felt like it. So, if you’re remodeling your kitchen or you just like fantasizing over cool things in Home Depot’s aisles, this is your lucky year.
