For the fourth consecutive year, Sylvia Fedrick was recognized through the Chicago Defender's Women of Excellence Awards in 2013 for the inspiration and success of her annual “Hat & Glove Inspiration Breakfast.” As the founder and visionary of the “Hat & Glove Inspiration Breakfast” Christian-Contemporary Gospel Recording Artist Sylvia Fedrick shares cheers, as well as jeers, as she recounts the journey and inspiration to go forth with the annual fundraiser. Sylvia, inspired by life experiences, challenges and obstacles began this journey in 2009 with little more than a hope and a payer. After an eleven-year hiatus from the entertainment industry Sylvia decided to pursue her music career as well. Though Sylvia is mostly known as a recording artist and radio personality, she has many passions. Her passion for singing is matched by her passion for helping others and embracing causes.

Fedrick shared how humbling it can be to witness her heart’s desire in bringing like-minded individuals together to motivate, uplift, and inspire one another as they each walk through life’s journey. She explained how God spoke to her spirit in order for her to place herself as an example of how He will bless you if you seek Him first. With Christ at the head of a person’s life, Fedrick believes, despite a glaring reality of “lack of,” a person can truly be what they want to be, they just have to “believe.” The symbolic meaning behind the “Hat & Glove Inspiration Breakfast” is to remind us that we all stem from royalty, the crown of Jesus, and that we have a power in our hands that allows us to do good works for our Lord, Jesus Christ. She goes on to express that “self cannot be in the equation when God is in control; we are just the vessel to be used for His glory.”

As the May 10, 2014, sixth annual “Hats & Inspiration Breakfast” is quickly approaching, with its health theme of “Kidney Disease Awareness,” the opportunity for vending booths or group rates are still options: call 872-221-4795. Fedrick smiles as she says “grab a mom, and invite her out to a jazzy, snazzy breakfast, and a very worthwhile event.”
