Simona Halep defeated the defending New Haven Open winner Petra Kvitova Saturday afternoon with a 6-2, 6-2 win.

Halep, who also took down 4 time New Haven Open winner Caroline Wozniacki in the semi finals friday night has now earned her fourth title of the year.

"I'm really happy that I played so good tennis today, incredible tennis and beautiful tennis," said Halep. "She played also great tennis I have to enjoy this moment. It's unbelievable for me. I feel really, really nice. Really, really great now."

Petra Kvitova, the No. 9 and a former Wimbledon champion, had this to say
"Well, I mean, it was quite tough. She didn't make any mistakes, so it was quite tough for me to play the rallies." "I was trying to play my game, but it was just for a few games in the beginning of the match."

After the match, Halep was beyond excited and happy, laughed and said she planned to keep the trophy with her.

Halep's New Haven Open win is her first in a WTA Premier-level tournament, she will going into next weeks rankings at No. 19.
