The 2013 Grammys brought interesting styles to the red carpet (Photos)

Stars took a walk on the wild side this week at the annual 2013 Grammys with their bold jewelry selections. Most readers will agree that the stars and jewelry designers thought outside the box this year.

  • Carrie Underwood's glitzy diamond necklace is definitely not a piece to be ignored. Underwood's necklace definitely turned the heads of Grammy attendees and simultaneously started a buzz among fashionistas and jewelry bloggers. Underwood's sparkly necklace was estimated at $31 million and was designed by Jonathan Arndt. This writer enjoyed the symmetry of the design, as well as the combination of various shapes of diamonds totaling 381 carats. The necklace was very classic and seemed similar to the styles of former model and actress Marilyn Monroe.
  • Beyonce's jewelry ensemble was very well put together; the star wore a mocha toned geometric style bracelet designed by Lorraine Schwartz, which was accented by a beautiful earth-tone teardrop shaped ring.
  • Rihanna herself wore an estimated $2 million worth of of jewelry designed by Neil Lane. Among the jewels donned by Rihanna were a 100 carat diamond and platinum serpentine bracelet, various diamond and ruby rings, and 30 carat platinum and diamond drop earrings. Rihanna's fiery red ensemble was a sharp contrast to Chris Brown's crisp white tux. Remarkably, the many jewels worn by Rihanna complimented her red hot floor length gown beautifully. It was also rumored that one of the rings the singer wore was an engagement ring from longtime beau Chris Brown. However, this writer has not been able to locate a definite source to confirm or deny these reports.
  • Another fashion trend to hit the red carpet this year was the snake ring. Several Grammy attendees were seen wearing the snake ring, including Rihanna and English musician Florence Welsh. Some may wonder if this is a slight nod to the upcoming spring trends of 2013.

One thing is for sure: the Grammys are a definitive milestone for both up and coming jewelry designers and well established names in the jewelry industry alike. The Grammys are definitely a noteworthy event as far as upcoming styles and trends are concerned. The message this year's Grammy celebration sent to audiences was clear: bold is beautiful.
