The 2012 Utah Boat Show starts Thursday

The annual Boat Show comes to Utah this weekend. The 2012 Utah Boat Show and Watersports Expo runs from Thursday, Feb. 9 through Sunday, Feb. 12 at South Towne Expo Center, 9575 S. State St. See all kinds of boats including the new 2012 wakeboard boats, ski boats, fishing boats, houseboats, power boats and more. There will be over 10,000 square feet of boating accessories such as water skis, tubes, towers, stereos, speakers, lights, boat covers, life jackets, boat motors, trailers and much more. The Expo will also feature the new "WakePark," a live indoor water park where pros will demonstrate new gear. Show hours are: Thursday: 2-10 p.m., Friday: Noon-10 p.m., Saturday: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors, and children 12 and under get in FREE with a paid adult. You can purchase tickets online and get a $2 discount or pay at the door.

There are a few new movies opening on Friday, Feb. 10 including "Safe House," starring Denzel Washington and "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island," starring Dwayne Johnson. "Safe House" is an action/crime film about a young CIA agent who has the job of keeping a fugitive, played by Denzel Washington, alive in a safe house. But chaos erupts when the safe house is attacked and both the agent and the fugitive are on the run. This film also stars Ryan Reynolds and Robert Patrick and is directed by Daniel Espinosa.

"Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" is an action/adventure film about the character Sean Anderson, played by Josh Hutcherson, who teams up with his mother's boyfriend to help find his grandfather. His grandfather is believed to be lost on a mythical island. The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Michael Caine and Vanessa Hudgens. It is directed by Brad Peyton. Peter Gabriel's 1986 hit song "Sledgehammer" is currently a rock ballet done by the Odyssey Dance Theatre. "Sledgehammer" takes place on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Kingsbury Hall, 1395 E. Presidents Circle in Salt Lake City. This production is about the everyday life of the working man. It displays all kinds of emotions from excitement and heartwarming to heartbreaking. This journey features other Gabriel hits such as "In Your Eyes," "Don't Give Up," "We Do What We're Told," "Mercy Street" and "Big Time." The choreography is done by Derryl Yeager. Tickets are $20-$40 and are available online and at the Kingsbury Hall box office. Showtime is 2 p.m.

The 54th Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, Feb. 12. Nominees include Adele, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Coldplay, Cee Lo Green, Barbra Streisand and Tony Bennett with the late Amy Winehouse for their duet "Body and Soul."
