The 2012 Spring Maryland Home and Garden Show will be held at the Maryland State Fairgrounds from March 3-4 and March 9-11, 2012. The theme this year is “Books in Bloom” and the show will feature 17 landscaped gardens inspired by novels and other books. Examples include “The Hobbit”, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” and “Harry Potter”. In addition there will be a flower show, an orchid show and sale, seminars, and a craft show.
There is a lot to see and do at the show. Gardeners can purchase plants, seeds, bulbs, trees and shrubs for their backyard gardens. There will be about 300 outdoor related exhibits so you can get plenty of ideas on how to improve your outdoor living space. The varied seminars are on various home and garden improvement topics. The garden related talks include Square Foot Gardening; Tiny Garden Big Harvest, Perennial Plants for Shade Gardens and House Plants for Clean Air.
From March 9-11 the Maryland Orchid Society will host a show and sale. During this same weekend the Federated Garden club will host a Small Standard Flower Show and also a Bonsai show and sale. For a separate $6 fee, you can also visit the Spring Craft Show in the same location. This show consists of 125 juried craftspeople showing everything from knitting to jewelry to woodworking.
