This weekend is the annual New England Sand Sculpting Festival (NESSF). Held annually at Revere Beach, the NESSF is one of the most elite events for sand sculptors. Each year, the event attracts national and international media attention and large crowds of spectators. All proceeds go to programs for the Revere Beach partnership.
This year, the theme of the Festival is Grimms Fairy Tales, Rapunzel. Ten nationally recognized sculptors will be competing for the “Peter McCauley Peoples Choice Award,” chosen by the public. All of the sculptures will be combined to create a massive, amazing sculpture related to the Rapunzel theme.
In addition, there is live entertainment throughout the weekend, as well as fireworks tonight at 9 PM. There will also be free Sand Sculpting lessons for children.
Get down to Revere Beach this weekend if you want to see the sculptors in action. The sculptures will stand on the beach until nature washes them away.
