Start of one of the Half Iron Distance waves.
Saturday, June 12th was the 6th running of the Liberty Triathlon in Maple Plain, MN. The Liberty Triathlon has an Olympic Distance (0.93 mile swim, 24.85 mile bike, 6.2 mile run) and a Half Iron Distance (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run).
The day started out cool, and there was a chance of pop-up showers for most of the morning. The wind picked up while most of the Half Iron racers were on the second loop of their 2-loop ride. A little later, while most of the Olympic athletes were done racing and most of the Half Iron athletes were on the run, the sky really opened up as it rained hard for a few minutes. The rest of the race consisted of light drizzle.
