With the Oscars this weekend and HD filming continuing it's dominance, makeup is more important than ever in Hollywood. I stopped by The Makeup Show LA to see what's new in the cosmetics world and meet new brands.

This is the 5th anniversary of the show and its second time in Los Angeles. I'm so happy they're continuing the show in LA and was pleasantly surprised by how much busier this year seemed than last. Even some previous vendors mentioned that they noticed the difference in traffic. This year brought forth new presentations and workshops for artists and beauty professionals. Even LA Times Magazine Editor Nancie Clare and Creative Director Rip Georges were having a panel discussion about their creative process of working in print and multimedia. Also, 5-time Emmy Award winning makeup artist Eve Pearl was there giving a seminar about how to better market and promote yourself as an artist.

New to The Makeup Show LA - and the US - was Inglot Cosmetics all the way from Poland. The brand is well established in Europe and other parts of the world and they are slowly rolling out availability to the US. All of their products are made at their state of the art facilities where they pride themselves on having the newest and best quality in color trends and ingredients. Photos in the slideshow.

Along with new brands like Inglot, the show also highlighted established industry lines like Make Up For Ever (who I met at a Grammy gifting suite), Temptu Pro, Stila Cosmetics, Smashbox, and more. This year I saw that there were a few skincare companies there like Dermologica who were reaching out to the makeup artists.

The trends definitely seemed to be all about experimenting with new colors, especially bright ones and glitter. Makeup primers were a big hit, as they're necessary for camera shooting, but also work for everyday when a little bit of SPF is added in the mix. Cosmetics like Make Up For Ever are extremely light, so while there may be a lot of color on your skin, you can barely feel it because your face is able to breath. Gone are the days of caking it on - well at least I hope so because that

Thanks for the great afternoon Makeup Show LA and I'll see you next year!
