The 2009 World Series of Poker is down to two players: Play will resume on Monday

 

After a marathon 16+ hour session the 2009 WSOP has its final two contestants: Joe Cada and Darvin Moon. Both men took extremely different routes getting to the heads-up showdown:

Darvin Moon came into the final table with a monster chip lead and had one of the strangest up-and-down days imaginable! Moon made some unorthodox plays –perhaps the strangest was when he elected to fold to a 6 million chip bet with a 45 million pot—a sign of his amateur playing status as well as his refusing to hire a poker coach.

The 21 year old Cada on the other hand, slowly and steadily picked his spots all day long, continually increasing his chip-stack with very few bumps along the way. Cada was in serious trouble when the table became 3-handed but managed to out-flop Antoine Saout’s QQ when his 22 flopped a set. A few hands later Cada’s AK beat Saout’s 99 and the youngster had effectively taken all 80 million of Saout’s chips in no time.

Cada now has the opportunity to supplant Peter Eastgate as the youngest Main Event Champion of all-time.

The two competitors will resume play on Monday 7 PM EDT.
