The 17 Day Diet: Day 8

Day 8 of The 17 Day Diet was much more triumphant than day 7. Dr. Moreno warns against daily weigh-ins as this practice may foster discouragement if the pounds do not seem to be falling off as quickly as one may like, but he does suggest periodic weigh-ins to maintain motivation. On day 8 (roughly the half way point) a weight loss of 5.5 lbs was noted. Because humans like to make predictions and because conventional wisdom almost always kicks in with out it being asked, the assumption is a final weight loss total of 10 lbs should be achieved if the same process holds true to the end.

This victory, though modest, increased a level of encouragement and motivation until day 9 when the struggle returned. Again, the high consumption of yogurt products is beginning to become wearisome and the desire for the "crunch" of a carbohydrate, any carbohydrate, wears on the will power. However, not wanting to undo all the good that has been done over powers the desire to eat a potato chip. So the battle continues.
