The 14th Annual Medical Marijuana Benefit Concert is February 19th

On Sunday, February 19, 2012 from 4PM to 3AM, NORML of Florida, Ploppy Palace Productions and Revolution Live will be hosting the 14th Annual Medical Marijuana Benefit Concert.

This concert is to raise funds for NORML of Florida (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws), Patients Out of Time, The Silver Tour and the PUFMM (People United For Medical Marijuana) medical marijuana campaign to protect patients’ rights.

Some background

There is a statewide campaign to change the medical marijuana laws in Florida. This legislation is in the Florida House and Senate—a 30 year historic first—as well as a statewide petition drive. As such, there will be informational booths on-site with literature and educational handouts for community members regarding issues and the medical marijuana campaign in Florida.

Irv Rosenfeld & Elvy Musikka, South Miami City Commissioner Walter Harris, Artie Kornfeld - author, music producer and organizer of Woodstock, Dante Trevisani of the American Civil Liberties Union of Greater Miami, Michael Minardi P.A.- Marijuana Defense Attorney, Shawn Heller from the Florida Justice Institute, Robert Platshorn - author and speaker for The Silver Tour, Eric Stevens from the Committee for Sensible Marijuana Policy, Kim Russell from PUFMM, Steve Berke - former Miami Beach mayoral candidate, comedian & video activist, Jayne King from the Florida Green Party, representatives of NORML of Florida and other concerned citizens.

The performers

Some of South Florida's top bands, spoken word artists and community activists will join together for patients’ and physicians’ right to use medical cannabis. The diversity of supporters for this cause will be a broad variety of musical styles including jazz, blues, rock, reggae, folk, hip-hop, funk, experimental, tribal rhythms, flamenco, Traditional Peruvian, world beat fusion, psychedelic grooves and various interactive jams.
