Having an average distance from the rear, blue teeing ground to the putting green of 139 yards, makes Burnham Woods Golf Course’s, 12th hole the shortest, par three hole on this course. Other distances are 132 yards from the middle, white teeing ground and 116 yards from the front, red teeing ground. This hole has a #17, course hole handicap. (Burnham Woods Golf Course is at 14201 S. Burnham Avenue in Burnham, Ill.)
The 12th hole has the easternmost teeing grounds on this course. This hole’s fairway points southeast. Golfers, who are standing on the teeing grounds, will notice a slight, right dogleg.
A small, water hazard is in front of the putting green; this is a regular water hazard, not a lateral water hazard. This hazard begins approximately 75 yards from the putting green. In summer, thick vegetation is around this hazard.
The putting green has an elevation that is at least two feet higher than the fairway’s elevation. This green is between small and medium size. It has an oval shape. Two, small sand bunkers are around it, one on the right front and one on the left rear.
From the rear teeing grounds, most golfers will use a 7-iron or an 8-iron. Golfers must apply backspin to be certain their golf balls remain on this elevated green. (From the far side, in front of the water hazard, it is impossible to chip onto this green.) Otherwise, balls will roll off into the thick grass that surrounds the green.
