The 111th United States Congress in 2010

"Voter unhappiness with Congress has reached the highest level ever recorded by Rasmussen Reports as 71% now say the legislature is doing a poor job."
Congressional Performance - Rasmussen Reports - The best place to look for polls that are spot on -

The main reason for the public displeasure with this Congress is from the wholesale spending binge they have been on for the past three years and the lack of attention to fixing the economy. In that three years time the National Debt has grown to over 12.54 trillion dollars as of data on February 28, 2010. Unemployment has grown to 10% nationwide. Some states such as Michigan that rate is near 15%. People are without work, there are also record home foreclosures and the deficit continues to grow to astronomical heights leaving fear there may be no recovery and no jobs. "The principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale," Thomas Jefferson, from a quote by the Patriot Press.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) said shortly after the 2008 Election to paraphrase, that the Democrats had won and they have a mandate from the people. With that Congress took off on what appears to be a spend fest to pass any and all Bills that could be dreamed. "Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys." A quote by P. J. O'Rourke, a contemporary American political satirist.

Early in 2009 a grass roots effort took hold and the voters began to insist on being heard. They were formed because the taxpaying voters began to feel as if they were not being heard, their concerns were not being addressed. There were Town Hall Meetings that were held in many States and Congressional Districts where the people took their first opportunity to be heard. Those people were labeled as "un-American" and "racists" because they were against the Democratic direction, they supposed by the left to be against President Obama.

When the left cannot support the rationalization of their own motives they find a reason to blame others. Without the support of the majority of their constituencies the left's strategy turns to blaming the GOP, the Tea Party movement and anyone else that does not agree with and do not go along with them.
Reported by Noel Sheppard of News Busters "New York Times columnist Frank Rich isn't just convinced suicide pilot Joe Stack shared many views with the Tea Partiers. He also believes some of the movement's members are basically domestic terrorists whose leaders include Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin."

Moreover, the left oppose people who are concerned about their own country and that have become vocal about the direction the current Democratic leadership is headed. The left tends to attack the voter's motives by calling them racists, un-American, terrorists and many more names. Also the left supporting main stream media tend to go on tirades of half and manipulated truths and elaborated facts to demean those honest hard working, taxpaying voters. Perhaps they do that to bring them down to their level?

"For years, the left has used race as a bully tactic to smear and debunk those on the receiving end of the label. This desperate and exploitative attempt at winning political arguments comes at a great cost to democracy, interpersonal relations and our nation's internal progress." There have been many questions about the ethics, or the lack of, in this current Congress. With all the back room dealings, the lack of, that over used word, transparency and the excessive spending the working taxpayer has the right to question. After all they are the ones who bare the burden of paying for what seems to be out of control madness.

To that very question Speaker Pelosi insisted on Friday that she "is running the most ethical and honest Congress in history." That for some reason was not particularly comforting. "At the same time, however, she indicated she will not ask House Ways and Means Chairman Charles Rangel (D.-N.Y.) to resign his chairmanship-at least for now. Democrook [ibid] Charlie Rangel was found guilty of ethics violations yesterday."

This is a shared attitude among the Democratic left. There are few centrists anymore
In Michigan we have two Democratic Senators who collectively have voted FOR the spending Bills put forth by the Democrats an average over 96% of the time. The spending and subsequent taxation continues to go forward but are the people any better off for it? Why then have these same taxpaying voters continued to send these public servants back? Why indeed. Senator Debbie Stabenow is the next of the two Michigan Senator that is up for re-election in 2012. Perhaps everyone should begin watching what she is, or is not, doing for you in Washington?
