This year we started Mercedes Benz Fashion Week with a bang! Last night we attended the 2013 Style Awards. Winners of the award represent the best in style for the year and are selected by a committee of their peers. Members of the nomination and selection committee include : Amare Stoudemire, Brian Atwood, and Catherine Malandrino. The ceremony was held at Lincoln Center in this years beautifully crafted tent. After a stellar red carpet guests took their seats to enjoy refreshments and watch the show. The Style Awards began 10 years ago and celebrates the accomplishments of major industry players as well as stylish celebrities. The award stunning trophy presented to the honorees was designed by Tiffany and Co. The honorees for this year’s ceremony includes NFL star Victor Cruz, Stylist Rachel Zoe and Model Kate Upton to name a few. The festivities were hosted by former reality star Nicole Richie. The super stylish hostess changed into several amazing ensembles during the nights festivities, further cementing her reputation as a fashion muse. She kept the show moving at a steady pace as the honorees in each category were revealed.

Some of the winners include the unsung heroes of fashion. The faceless nameless individuals who help create the styles that influence fashion. As honored guests who are rarely seen in the public eye the awards help shine a light on their talents and accomplishments. Film costume designer Trish Summerville and Television Costume designer Janie Bryant were among the honorees. Summerville has worked on two major film adaptations, The Hunger games and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Bryant is most widely known for her work on cable television hit “Mad Men”.
