The 10th Annual Little Italy Carnevale comes to San Diego in February!

On February 9th Little Italy will be presenting its Annual Little Italy Carnevale. This special event pays homage to the Carnevale in Venice and focuses on the traditional vignettes of entertainment and fine food that are so popular with the Italian tradition.

Several spectacular additions will be added to the entertainment this year as the Carnevale celebrates its 10th anniversary. Last year over 12,000 attendees enjoyed the festivities and arrived in the Venetian regalia and costume associated with the event. There will be love music, art, costume and mask-making for children, Venetian clowns and stilt-walkers, and wonderful Italian food.

The event is free to all, however, you will need to be creative with parking. There are several parking lots near the event near the intersection of W. Date and India Street. Make sure to arrive very early and secure a spot for yourself or your family. Consider taking the trolley. The weather is expected to cooperate but it is a good idea to layer and have a light coat.

The celebration traditionally takes place right before Ash Wednesday and the coming Lent. Be sure to pick up the Passport di Carnevale which will be available at the information booth. The Passport is a guide to the entertainment locations and a chance to win a prize at the event. Be sure to present the Passport when you purchase an item from a restaurant or shop and turn it in before the prize ceremony.

You are also encouraged to dress up and participate in the lively and enjoyable family activities.

The Carnevale will go from 5:00pm to 9:00pm

Dress up and have some fun!
