The 10 Greatest Pro-Wrestlers of All-Time

The following is a list of the 10 Greatest Pro-Wrestlers of All-Time.

Check it out and leave comments on who you think the greatest pro-wrestlers are....

10) Kurt Angle
When his career ends, Angle could become the greatest pro-wrestler ever. Kurt is the only Olympic gold medalist amateur wrestler to become a professional wrestler. His athleticism is overshadowed only by his unmatched wresting ability. “Shoot” or “work”, Kurt Angle can beat them all.

9) Bret Hart
In his own words, Bret is simply the best there is, was, and ever will be. He took technical wrestling to another level. He also made pink a cool color to wear. “The Hitman” won multiple world titles and could work a match with anyone from Andre the Giant to Shawn Michaels.

8) Antonio Inoki
Trained by Rikidozan, Inoki became the most recognized wrestler in the history of Japanese wrestling. He fought athletes outside of the wrestling world including the great Muhammad Ali. In the wrestling ring, Inoki fought all the top names including Flair, Andre the Giant, and Hulk Hogan. He was the greatest international ambassador for pro-wrestling.

7) Harley Race
The 7 time NWA Champion is one of the toughest wrestlers of all time. He could beat you up inside and outside of the ring. The man took pleasure in stretching and pummeling his opponents from territory to territory and country to country.

6) Stone Cold Steve Austin

Stone Cold became the most popular pro-wrestler of all-time. He lived in the grey area and sparked a revolution in pro-wrestling. His rebellious attitude and defiant behavior created a mainstream buzz. He became the cool heel that everyone wanted to be like.

5) Andre the Giant
Andre was truly the “8th Wonder of the World.” He was larger than life. Andre transcended the sport of pro-wrestling with his size and personality. His real life feats of strength have become legends exchanged over the internet and inside wrestling locker rooms.

4) Lou Thesz
Lou held the NWA title six different times for a total of over 10 years. He was a revered “hooker” who enjoyed stretching gimmicked wrestlers. He is credited for creating such moves as the german suplex, Thesz press, and the powerbomb.

3) Bruno Sammartino
Bruno became a saint among the Italian culture. At one point he held the world title for over 7 years and beat everyone that he faced. He had an unmatched work ethic and super-freakish strength. Bruno sold out Madison Squared Garden 45 times and was the top name in all of pro-wrestling for decades

2) Hulk Hogan
This “Real American” shot like a red and yellow rocket to the top of the pro-wrestling world. “Hulkamania” was the most powerful force in the entire universe. He was worshipped by little kids and adored by adults. His big leg drop, pythons for arms, shirt ripping, and catchphrases made him a cultural icon.

1) Ric Flair
Flair is the greatest pro-wrestler of all-time. Nobody can duplicate his promos. He lived the lifestyle of the rich and famous and told you all about it in his interviews. He’d steal your woman and smack your mother all in a day’s work. Always did whatever he needed to do to win. This earned him the nickname “The Dirtiest Player in the Game”. He spent more money on his robes than most people made in a lifetime. The Nature Boy would walk the walk and definitely talk the talk. “Woooooooooooh !!”

Honorable Mentions: Ed “The Strangler” Lewis, Rikidozan, Buddy Rogers, Gorgeous George, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, The Rock, Verne Gagne, Jerry Lawler, Dusty Rhodes, Sting

Sherron, I'm going to guess that you were a big WWF fan growing up.... All great wrestlers on your list but Lou Thesz and Bruno could wipe the floor with 1/2 of them.
At least we agree on Flair and Austin

Great list & can't really argue against any one on it.

I think Randy Savage, Dusty Rhodes & Sting have to be close behind don't they?

  • Freddie 2 years ago

WHOOOOOOOO! I agree with Ric Flair. He managed to adapt to a ton of different eras, and succeeded in all of them.

I think really shawn michaels should join this list! He is one of the best wrestlers of all time as a total package...

Rick, quite the opposite! I always hated the WWF. I'm a mark for WCW. That's never been cool to say, but it's true. I was into Jim Crockett Promotions and WCW. Even when WCW was awful I preferred it over WWF.

Bruno was only over on the east coast. Most of the guys I listed were big in different territories or huge in the new era of wrestling. I won't discredit Bruno, he was over for a long time. But he was only big in the WWWF.

Lou Thesz and Buddy Rogers are tough ones. They were before my time and I never saw them except on tape. I know Lou was the greatest NWA champion until Harley came along. Lou would be in my list from 11-20! Not sure about Bruno!

Hogan, Vader, Thesz, Gagne, Rhodes, Andre, Muta, Harley, Inoki, and Gorgeous George.

I think Sting should be in list he is the only big name who never work for WWF and the gret RIc falir and Hogan afraid his as angel of death at ring and both ric and hogan never couldn't beat Sting and sting beat both of them more than 3 time, so Sting should be the NO. 1 but fact is tht many people don't know about this enigmatic man coz he never came to WWF or WWE , but whtever it is he is the best. A man of integrity a real Champion "the master of scorpion death lock and scorpion death drop" Icon .....
