Thursday, February 16, is the start of $1.00 racks at Goodwill. This is the day that racks and racks of clothing are reduced to only $1.00 per piece. One of the best "fishing holes" in Columbia just keeps getting better, and local thrift shoppers wait anxiously for Thursdays.
Goodwill Industries International of Columbia has a half price savings corner filled with racks most days and one dollar racks on Thursdays and Fridays. There are many Goodwill thrift stores in Columbia. Just enter your zip code to in the box where it says, “Find Your Local Goodwills.”
The one dollar racks are crammed with tanks, tops, knits, tees, beaded tops, sweaters, suits, skirts, dresses, jeans, trousers, skirt and pant suits and much more. It’s a great way to spend an hour or two, and hidden treasures are sure to show up. There are always some designer labels and name brand fashions. Thesale racks usually drop to fifty cents on Sunday for even better fashion fishing.
Goodwill on Decker Boulevard has an incredible selection of "like new" short sleeve knit tops in pretty spring colors and Goodwill on Two Notch Road has a great selection of jeans, capris and sleepwear this week.
The dollar racks can also help thrifty fashion shoppers earn a little extra money by purchasing name brand clothing in mint condition, such as Tommy Hilfiger and Lauren jeans, Ann Taylor Loft and Cato tops, and Coldwater Creek casuals and reselling them on eBay or at your local consignment shop for much more than you paid. Some items are actually donated brand new and have store price tags attached.
Check your wallets, shake your piggy banks, and clean under the couch cushions. You’re sure to find one dollar in loose change that can be turned into a pair of Bill Blass jeans, a L.L. Bean pima cotton tee, or a soft pink linen suit for spring.
