I love the atmosphere of coffee shops. I enjoy the gathering of people and the sense of community a good coffee shop creates. But the only issue is that I don't really like coffee. You can put tons of cream in it and I still don't like coffee.
So I've been on the hunt for coffee shops that create this atmosphere but also appeal to the non-coffee drinker.
Recently I went to Thatcher's in Vancouver and found a great place for people like me. It is a locally owned. They choose ingredients that are sustainable, earth friendly and local wherever possible. And their baked goods are to die for. You'll find plenty of gluten free options, too.
In this bright and airy coffee shop the servers and baristas were friendly, the place hummed with activity and there were many choices. It was a crisp fall day so I enjoyed a marvelous cup of hot cider. Others ordered hot chocolate. Teas were also on the menu. I paired the cider with a marvelous apple coffee cake.
Happening on Thatcher's renewed my interest in "going out for coffee." There are some great places in the 'Couve and Thatcher's is certainly one of them.
