Greetings again from my, still recovering from last weekends mass quantity of events, corner of the world. Finally broke down, turned on the heat and it took waking up to 77 degree temp in my living room, to figure out the thermostat in the new living quarters. Now that I have that figured out, I'm feeling pretty confident we shall make out through the upcoming cold weather. Unlike the the air outside, the local scene is not cooling down at all. That should make us all smile and feel a little warm and runny inside....
Kudos to Blackbird Promotions, Harry's Hideaway and all who were involved SCARE-MARITAN SHAKEDOWN this past Friday. Awesome event put together to benefit The Samaritan House. It was a, fun night, the costumes were great (KAT BRENNAN looked way too comfortable in her "costume") and it was all for a good cause.
If you know me I am all about GOOD pie. Not apple or cherry (not that I don't like a good slice of pastry)but pizza pie. I'm going to give you a heads up on an out of the way place that has some pizza you are gonna dig. SUGAR STREET BAR & GRILL. We all know they have killer taco Tuesdays but the pizza is equally up to the task. Don't take my word for it, go taste for yourself.
I know "most" people start their weekend on Friday but since I KNOW you don't want to be like anybody else you can start your weekend Thursday at Mulligans. Its open mic night with the one and only Kat Brennan( maybe she'll wear her Halloween costume again!). If you insist on starting on Friday, they have you covered there too.Friday night at the High Street party place, you can dig the sounds of Trevor Compton. You owe it to yourself to venture downtown.
Just a few notes before we jet off. They say you should "evolve" and as you know from time to time I have done several reviews of albums recorded by local talent ,so I thought maybe every once in a while I would do short profiles of some of the folks that are involved in the local scene. There are alot of folks out there that are a big part of what keeps the local scene rolling and either no one knows about them or they just know " what they've heard" Just a way to recognize those that help keep the party going...So please be on the lookout for that. The first should be coming up in November.
I wanted to send a shoutout to the folks at Northland Barbers, especially Jean who makes my head of hair look presentable. I should be over for a visit soon.
Also, as a result of a housing change, it has become necessary to find facilities to maintain clean clothes. I must admit I didn't think I would ever find a laundry I didn't hate to go to. NORTHVIEW EXPRESS LAUNDRY is unlike any laundry I have ever used (AND THEY ALWAYS HAVE COPIES OF THE ENTERTAINER EASILY ACCESSIBLE). They have really taken out much of the stress of going to the laundry.. You need to check them out. Just around the corner from the Northside Firehouse on W Grand. Tell them you heard about them here....
That's it for now. Remember we can all support the local scene, just go to something somewhere. At least that's what I think..
If ya dig it do it
If ya really dig it
Do it twice
