Greetings again my friends from my much more rested and less stressed corner of the world I lived in last time. The weather has been amazing, which makes me a little scared thinking about the upcoming winter season, BUT.....the longer its nice, maybe the crappy weather won't be here as long. Nice thought I know...hey ya never know..right? Now that our weather segment is out of the way, let's get on with the show shall we??
I'm going to slide off the road for a second and bring to your attention a very cool individual. His name is Herb Vonderau. You may have never heard of him but I bet you have seen his work. You know those paintings you see in some odd places of Reagan, John Wayne, Kurt Cobain, yep that's his work. Some of his more "serious" work I believe can still be seen at The Meeting Place. You can find him on Facebook. He does all sorts of really cool stuff, and some of the most creative portraits you've ever seen. Herb Vonderau...remember that name.
Since we mentioned The Meeting Place, coming up this Saturday, the folks from Limaland Comedy will be bringing Laughs In Middle America, the local comedy/improv group to downtown Lima and you owe it to yourself to check them out. Show starts early,6:30, with a sample sized cover, so you can enjoy the show, score some of that phenomenal food and drink at The Meeting Place and still be able to"party on".
I ventured down North Cable Road the other night and visited everyone's, favorite Hideaway that happens to be owned by a guy named Harry and watched a set by one of the up and coming bands in the area, Southern Blend. Marlene is the"voice" of the band & she possesses that sorta spunky, get out of my way, give me a shot bartender, my boots are gonna walk all over your ass if you do me wrong voice and the attitude to go along with it. Even though they only have a few gigs under their belts right now, be on the lookout and remember the name (and who told you first) Southern Blend.
I had a chance a few days ago to hear SouLow, the new album by Will Freed. I will be giving it a, couple deep listens the next few days and I will give you my thoughts on Mr Freed's newest musical journey next week.
That's it for now. Remember we can all support the local scene, just go to something somewhere. At least that's what I think.
And as always
If ya dig it do it
If ya really dig it
Do it twice
