Greetings again my friends from my "I cannot believe it's June already corner of the world. I'm starting to get this really weird feeling (and no it's not the Coney dog I had for breakfast) that this summer is going to fly by. Maybe it's because we were so, so anxious for spring to finally get here and now that it's gone already, the warm days and nights are so awesome and well deserved we just don't want them to end. ... Or maybe not. What do I know? I know the PARTY season has just begun and there is stuff going on kids. And I can't wait to share. ..
I took a little road trip last weekend and headed over to CELINA to catch one of those rare appearances of Will Freed @ a very cool place called Java Nation. I will expound on their virtues in a minute after I tell you about Will Freed. I've seen Will Freed perform many times over the years and I've never seen him more relaxed and sure of himself as he was at Java Nation. His arrangements of some familiar tunes was inspired and at times jaw dropping. Will Freed treated those in attendance to some of the absolutely smoking tunes from his up coming new album that are definitely taking him down a different road. Looking forward to the new Will Freed album. I will let you know when it's available.
Not only was the music outstanding but the venue was equal to the task. Java Nation is located 110 S Main Street in downtown Celina and take it from me don't let the outside fool you. When you walk in the door you will be blown away by the smells coming from the kitchen like the Monte Christo panini or the Italian Stallion pizza or maybe the Potter House Specialty pizza . Toss in all the fresh coffees, made to order cold and hot drinks, baked goods and did I mention they have a bar, you could start with breakfast and just stay all day. Personally I can't wait to go back. Java Nation downtown Celina. Also check out www.celinadowntown.com
Coming up this Wednesday is KAROAKIN FOR THE CAUSE at The Alibi. It's the first part of the Hops-n-Giggles Birthday Celebration culminating June 8 @ The Village Cafe in Cridersville. Proceeds will be split between Home Away From Home, St Rita's Hospice and Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. Starts at 7 & will be going all night. I'll give you more details on the big birthday bash next week...
Saturday night, just a little further down the street Mulligans is playing host to KickAss Karaoke startling at 9. Should be lots of fun and if the weather is nice may even be on one of the coolest "patios" in town. AND don't forget Thursday is open Mic night hosted by the lovely and talented Kat....be there...
I need to digress for a minute and remind you of all the cool things that are going on at The Alibi 126 E North. First of all this IS NOT The Alibi of old. This is the remodeled, reimagined, safe and clean The Alibi. Don't let pass issues cloud your judgement concerning The Alibi. Don't let what you "hear" about downtown Lima at night keep you from enjoying a great night out where you will feel welcomed and safe. Bike night is on Tuesday and if you ride your bike in wings are only. 25. There's karaoke every night with a different host and surprises. And they have a kitchen now..Give The Alibi a shot. After everybody at one time or another needs an Alibi...
That's a wrap for this time around. Remember we can all support the local scene, just go to something somewhere. At least that's what I think
If ya dig it do it
If ya really dig it
Do it twice
