Greetings again my friends from my, I can't tell you how excited I am MLB season is finally here and I refuse to wear my winter coat anymore, corner of the world. Am I the only who was almost angry with the little show from Mother Nature last weekend? I really think I said "What Is This?" outloud when I walked out the door Saturday afternoon. I think we are officially done with winter now and its time for some "real" spring weather. New month brings new events so hang on, I'm going to drop some knowledge on you about a just a few. Are you ready? Here we go...
Coming up this Saturday is "METAL 4 MEANS", an event to help raise funds for and to accumulate cleaning supplies for local shelters. Blackbird Promotions have moved their entertainment circus if you will to a new location for this event, the They Say Club on N Main Street downtown Lima right next to Joey's Subs. Doors open at 9, admission is $9 for those under 21, only $6 for over 21, you can save $3 with a cleaning supply donation and ladies automatically get a $1 off! Rocking the stage will be Our Final Prayer, Gracious Sin and making an encore performance BIOGENISIS! Lots of parking and its a really cool place inside. Come check it out.
If you're like most folks, watching a ball game just isn't the same when you watch by yourself, you can join a whole bunch of fans just like you at "Lima's Homeplate for Baseball" Pappy's Lounge on W North Street. 13 kinds of beer on tap only, are you ready for this, $1.75 ALL DAY EVERYDAY! Open M-F at 2, noon on Saturday. Grab some brews, watch some ball and hang out with my favorite season. Tell 'em you heard about them here.
Listen if you have not attended one of the blues jam put on by the Greater Allen County Blues Society you are cheating yourself out of some great music. Its always the last Sunday of every month at the K of C on Cable right behind Happy Dayz. Its only $3 for a 4 yes 4 hour show. Every month is a different host band, The Zach Laffin Band did the honors in March and Kevin Ashba and friends will be there in April. One of the highlights of the show is always Minor Blues. These young people never cease to amaze. I must send a shout out to Shannon who absolutely tore it up on the skins last Sunday. That little dude can play some drums! There are only two jams left till fall so get your ya-ya's over there. April 27th is the next one.
If you are one of those folks who celebrate "hump day" and the week being halfway over, you are not alone. Angie and crew at the Main Street Irish Pub feel the same way and celebrate with $1 tacos all day( while they last) and karaoke with DJ Johnny Kook starting early at 7 for all who need to hit the sheets early. Make plans to stop up, say hi, grab lunch, come back after work, have a snack, sing a tune or two then make it home and in bed by 10:00 pm. Come on, you know you want to.
That's it for now. Remember we can all support the local entertainment community just go to something somewhere. At least that's what I think.
If ya dig it do it
If ya really dig it
Do it twice
