Greetings again my friends from my beaten, battered, disheartened, depressed as a result of this relentless winter weather, corner of the world. Even though we weren't hit with the BIG totals everyone anticipated, it was still as cold as a spring morning in the Arctic and it did still snow so in my book..TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR!!! We have had enough. I feel like Mother Nature is like the bully in school that no matter how many times you gave them your lunch money it just wasn't enough. WE GIVE! UNCLE!!! REALLY!!
OK, give me just a minute to stash those playground memories deep down back where they belong and we shall move on. Alright, all better now.
A sure sign spring is finally coming, the annual Pickles Blues Extravaganza starts this Friday March 7 thru Saturday March 8 at Lima's Memorial Hall on Elm Street. If you have never been to a Pickles Blues Extravaganza you owe it to yourself to check it out. Tickets are still available for $10 per night, adult beverages will be served and the food is always AMAZING! Doors open at 6 pm and the show starts at 7:30. This is a great way to just "chill" after a crappy winter week and hang out with some of the coolest kids around, blues fans.
Thanks to the HUGE crowd and response to their last appearance, "Them Kids" have been locked into regular rotation on the talent calendar at Lombardo's on N Main Street in downtown Lima and this Saturday they return. First string is strummed about 9 but my advice is get there really early, get yourself a seat and take advantage of some of the best food you will find anywhere while you wait for the show to start. Its going to be packed. PACKED I tell you. So take my advice, you'll thank me later.
Attention all you fans of 80's hair bands( whether you want to admit it in public or not), do I have good news for you. Saturday night, ELECTRIK CIRCUS, a tribute to 80's hair bands, takes over The OT. Doors open at 8, show starts at 9 and its only $5 to relive a great( I don't care what anyone says)decade of music. So find that lost can of auqa net, those tight pants and that mascara and head on up. Oh yea ladies find your 80's party clothes too.
Don't forget, Thursday is open mic night at Mulligans on High Street with the lovely and talented Kat Brennan. Great way to discover some new talent and break up the week and get your weekend started early.
That's it for now. Remember we can all support the local music community, just go to something somewhere. At least that's what I think.
If ya dig it do it
If ya really dig it
Do it twice
