That's What I Think 02-24-2014

Greetings again my friends, from my winter weather bunker where I am proudly flying the white flag of surrender, corner of the world. I know I shouldn't complain and should be thankful the snow is almost gone but are single degree temperatures REALLY still necessary. I'm mean if there were any bugs, pollen or anything else that could make our spring miserable still alive, then I'm cool with it BUT come on.....enough already. IT'S ALL DEAD! !!!! Either frozen or drowned. Pretty confident in saying that. Alrighty then.... lets move on shall we?

This is one of the coolest things I have had to share with you for a bit. Everyone's favorite music site GILBERT'S Music is hosting something very cool Saturday March 1. Its the Mayfly Record Release Show to celebrate their new 8 song EP. Also on the lineup are special guests All Changes Apply, Life Within and Two Dragons. Doors open at 7, 7:30 pre party, show starts at 8. $6 @ door, $5 if you bring in the flyer. Just how cool is this? I mean really! Supporting the local scene BIG TIME! Make a point to swing by. Show your support. We all hear so much negative talk about no one supports the local music scene and there is nothing to there is!! Help encourage more of this. NOW IS YOUR CHANCE!!!

Don't forget coming up Thursday and every Thursday in beautiful downtown Lima the lovely and talented Kat Brennan hosts the open mic night at Mulligan's on High Street. Come on, we all know Thursday night TV is lousy and you really deserve to start your weekend early so get yourself up to Mulligan's and hang out with the cool kids. Open mic night with Kat...

Listen if you have not checked out the Greater Allen County Blues Society blues jams you are cheating yourself out of some great music. Every month there is a host band to start off the night and it goes from there. This time around was "GO AHEAD ON" and they just out and out kicked butt. A tasty three piece that rocked some blues, Jimi and even Jerry Lee Lewis! Really! Another great reason to check out the monthly jams is Minor Blues. A great group of young people showing off their musical chops, a lot of times in front of folks for the first time and trust me, IT NEVER DISAPPOINTS. It starts at 5 and is over at 9. Cover is only $2 if you get there before 5, only $3 after that. Great drink prices and excellent food that wont break the bank. Its always the last Sunday of the month, so put it on your calendar now and wait until you see what they have planned in the near future. But you won't know unless ya go.....GACBS Blues Jam at the K of C Hall. See you there.

That's it for now. Saving up column space. Building up an IOU cause next time will be longer. Remember we can all support the local scene, just go to something somewhere. At least that's what I think.

As always
If ya dig it do it
If ya really dig it
Do it twice
