That pervailing sense of fear

Have you ever wondered what our societies would look if we didn't have that nagging sense of fear hammered in everywhere we look?

The gist is fear has become an integral part of our societies.  TV and movies set the tone and you won't go a few minutes watching anything without fear oozing from the screen.  The news media is quite adept at making you see the negative in the world, especially when it comes to other countries.  Commercials have become equally apt at selling highly dangerous toxic medicine with side effects enough to make you faint, or worse.  Fear is what companies use to sell and the result is we now live with a constant sense of fear.

Stop, Look Around.  If we actually stopped and took the time to look around, we would laugh and feel foolish inviting these fears as real in our lives.  We have given our rights to think for ourselves and have allowed others to use fears in our minds to buy products we rarely need.  Case in point, we mostly don't eat for sustenance, we do from fear of not having enough.  We don't take medicine to keep us in health, we take it to get better, even if there is nothing wrong with us, sometimes to the detriment of our initial health.  When it all gets too much, we turn to an insidious way break by watching TV and its endless low IQ reality shows.  When did we start to enjoy prying into someone else life?

Some Senior Citizens Get It.  If you go and talk to a few senior citizens, you'll find a few with a certain smile on their faces, or at the very least a look of peaceful detachment.  These people have seen many things, witnessed many events, some catastrophic, and most have come to a sense of relativity.  In other words, once you step off the merry-go-round, you realize easily swayed we are to buy products, ideas and systems.

Societies come and go, history is littered with success and failures, but one thing endures.  Humans are still here despite current genocides and crimes against humanity.  Many senior citizens understand this and tactfully disengage themselves from living with fear.  They know it only feeds more fire.

So take time to look around.  Enjoy the reality of being able to have sensations and to be alive.  The crux of the journey is in the traveling, not the end.  In the meantime, go and find yourself a certified coach to help you disentangle yourself.
