'Thanos Rising #1' variant cover by Skottie Young

According to Marvel Comics on March 8, the release of ”Thanos Rising #1″ this coming April will delve into the depths into the history of Thanos. This comic series will take a look back all the way into Thanos’ childhood up until what made him the “Mad Titan” that he is today.

In this cover variant, it shows baby Thanos, sitting comfortably on his throne holding a balloon of his current crush, mistress Death. One might think this is a knock off of the "Muppet Babies" TV show and comic, but not as cute. Thanos was an ugly baby and more of a puppet master than a puppet.

Jason Aaron and Simone Bianchi will be heading off this series. Bianchi will be the ongoing artist for the project. In a quote from Comic Book Resource, Aaron makes a statement in regards to him heading off such a phenomenal event:

”I’ve wanted to do some cosmic stuff ever since I did my “Black Panther” issues for “Secret Invasion.” Those issues took place on Earth, but they were kind of a cosmic story. It was very much about invading Skrulls and I even wrote one issue from the perspective of a Skrull general”.

Aaron always wanted to something comic and this “power cosmic” villain is something that he’d definitely would like to explore into. Even though Thanos’ history has been speckled about through Marvel stories in various comics throughout the years, this will be the only comic book that will give a full story, from beginning to end.

This would be an epic "E True Hollywood Story", but about a rather undesirable celebrity. The seed was probably planted for movie goers who are not into main stream comics and had been wondering who that mysterious being at the end of "The Avengers" who would be more than to joyfully “court death”.

"Thanos Rising #1" debuts in April. Check your local comic shops and reserve your copy today.
