The upcoming week marks the week of Thanksgiving in the United States. One wonderful tradition of the holiday is the Thanksgiving special. Listed below are the notable specials and their local listings.

How I Met Your Mother: Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap
Marshall proposes a “slap bet” to Ted and Robin. (Anybody who has seen the infamous slap episode knows to anticipate slap-induced hilarity.) Chris Elliot guest stars as Lily's estranged father who is visiting for Thanksgiving. This episode airs Monday, 8 p.m. on CBS.

Heroes: Thanksgiving
In this aptly titled episode, H.R.G. hosts what promises to be an unconventional Thanksgiving dinner. But really, could any “Heroes” Thanksgiving dinner be Cast members of Heroes at ComicCon.anything but unconventional? Meanwhile, the Pitrelli family will receive a surprise guest. Newcomer to the cast, Dawn Olivieri plays “painted lady” Lydia, an empath who begins searching for the truth. Airs Monday, 8 p.m. on NBC.

House: Ignorance is Bliss
The team spends Thanksgiving eve treating a brilliant psychologist with a list of unusual symptoms. The doctors are nearly stumped as they try and treat the patient while dealing with their own strained relationships. Formulaic? Maybe. But good odds that it will keep viewers intrigued. Airs Monday, 8 p.m. on FOX.

NCIS: Child's Play
For viewers who enjoy a dose of drama with the holidays, NCIS members attempt to celebrate Thanksgiving but their plans are put on hold when the death of a Marine requires the team to investigate. Warning: “NCIS” is not usually for the faint of heart, and doesn't usually provide a large dose of holiday cheer. But if you're a fan, it will likely not disappoint to deliver an edge-of-your-seat episode. This episode airs Tuesday, 8 p.m. on CBS.

In The Middle: Thanksgiving
In this new family comedy, Patricia Heaton's character Frankie works at a car dealership. In this episode, her boss, Mr. Ehlert forces the staff to work on Thanksgiving. Meanwhile, her youngest child, Brick, gets lost in a corn maze. Airs Wednesday, 8:30 p.m. on ABC.

The Thanksgiving Parade on CBS
Highlights of this production include performances by Reba McEntire, the Broadway casts of “West Side Story” and “Ragtime,” the cast of “Dreamgirls” and more. Jamie Kennedy will be reporting with Dave Price and Maggie Rodriquez host. It airs Thursday, 9 a.m. on CBS.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
This Thanksgiving marks the 83rd annual parade and will feature floats, marching bands, and appearances by Andrea Bocelli, Boys Like Girls, Gloria Gaynor, Carly Simon, Alan Cumming, Jimmy Fallon, and more. It will be hosted by Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, and Al Roker. It airs Thursday, 9 a.m. on NBC.

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
Always a welcome classic, “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” promises to provide some nostalgic warm Thanksgiving feelings. The Peanuts gang returns to gather around Charlie Brown's pingpong table and enjoy a special feast. There will also be a bonus cartoon aired at the end of the movie. Will Charlie Brown be able to kick that football? Find out Thursday, 8 p.m. on ABC.
