In 1963, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week. Now, 50 years later, National Small Business Week, June 17 through June 21, is still a time to celebrate the six million small business owners and entrepreneurs who have created jobs and delivered services and products that enhance our lives.
In Colorado, we have lots to celebrate: Statewide, Colorado is home to 550,000 entrepreneurs and small businesses, according to the Colorado Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network’s 2012 annual report. What’s more, Denver is also fortunate to have spaces like Galvanize, which provides the three vital Cs for startups—capital, community and curriculum—to help breakout companies in the area thrive.
So, this week, take a moment to appreciate the small business in your area by shopping at their stores, using their services, giving your favorite food truck or dog washer a shout out on social media, or even providing a simple thank you!
