Thanks to you, my column, Astoria Neighborhoods, Faces and Places is now number 2 in two categories, Top Neighborhood examiners and top Faces and Places, and is now in the number 3 spot in Portland examiners. This means that stories written about Astoria people, events, and our history, are being read by a wide audience, well beyond the limits of our small town.
Thanks to all those in the Astoria-Warrenton, Lower Columbia region, the word is going out to more people about events like Astoria's Second Saturday Artwalk, the Fifth Tenor Guitar Gathering here in Astoria in early June, openings at local galleries, benefits like the art exhibit, "Art through the Eyes of a Child" sponsored by Luminari Arts to raise money for Head Start. Artists and musicians are featured regularly, including painter, Robert Paulmenn, artist Heather Clement Davis, local music group, Acustica World Music, surrealist painter and local business owner, Lisa Ackerman, and photographer, Thom Dickerson of Laughing Duck Digital Pond Photography. Stories in this column regularly appear to support the art community, local galleries, and art events including: the Nudes Downtown, RiverSea Gallery, Tempo Gallery and Collective, D-Hair Gallery, Imogen, and Clatsop Community College's regular art events.
Be sure to let me know of events you would like mentioned, or artists, musicians, writers you would like to know more about or whose works you want featured in this column. My intention with this column is to put the spotlight on the creative, artistic, interesting, and good people of the Lower Columbia and Northwest coast.
