Comment from Geroy Allan - Geroy Simon's Father following the BC Lions win on Grey Cup day
All the way from Johnston, Pennsylvania, where Geroy's love of football started, Simon's parents Geroy and Valerie Allen along with his Grandmother Lorretta Hall were in attendance for the 2011 Grey Cup as 54,313 fans watched their son win a Grey Cup Championship.
"It's a relief, it's a great relief and I'm glad we were able to be here to see it, " proudly says Geroy's Grandmother Loretta Hall.
In the past, Geroy's family has driven to Hamilton and Toronto to see their 6-time CFL all-star son play. For Geroy's Father, this is the first time he as been to Vancouver to watch his son play . "This is the ultimate prize, you can't get no better than this," says Geroy Allen following the energy-charged Championship presentation where his son raised up the prestigious Grey Cup in victory.
"On a scale of 1 to 10, this is a 10," adds Valerie Allen. "I imagined he would play professional football because that is what he said he wanted to do. We believed in him but I never thought it would be in Canada, but I am grateful for it. "
Geroy Allen adds that he is very proud of his son Geroy as a father and as a teammate. "He's unbelievable. Everyone we talk to absolutely loves him (Geroy)," says Allen.
"We thank Canada for taking care of our son."
