(Psalms 136:1-3) Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods, for his steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures forever;
(Romans 8:38-39) For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
There is much to give thanks to the Lord for in your life but it all starts with and rests upon His steadfast love. Steadfast means to be constant, unwavering, fixed in place, and undeviatingly consistent. God loves you in this way. He is totally and completely committed to loving you. He is constant, unwavering, and undeviatingly consistent in His love for you. There is nothing that you could ever possibly do that would or could remove God's love for you. He will discipline you when necessary and He will lovingly take you through difficulties to sanctify you, but He will never stop loving you.
Being thankful and giving thanks are sometimes two different things. It is possible to be thankful and to never (or rarely) say thank you. God asks both from you, not because He wants to hear how great He is all the time but because the more you give honest and heart-felt thanks to Him, the greater and deeper your thankfulness for Him grows.
Today, think about the steadfastness of God's love for you; about how even when you don't deserve His love He still loves you. Thank Him for His love throughout the day everyday.
