Thank God that Jesus isn't an elected official

God's Love, Lordship, and Benevolence are certainly not of this world. Yet, out of Love for His Creation, they are certainly for this world. The world, inspired by principalities and powers, falls, and rejects this Love, nailing Love's Beloved to a tree. This nailing, moreover, is perennial in the persecution of the Supreme Victim's (and Victor) disciples; and it is happening now.

Thank God that Jesus isn't an elected official.

"In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only-begotten Son into the world so that we might have life through him. In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins." 1 John 4:7-10

God so Loved the world that he did not seek what He rightly deserved, but gave the world what it truly needed--the Messiah. For this is true Love! God gives even when it hurts. On the other hand, our so called leaders give, even when it hurts us to the core. God freely offers eternal life--and an abundant life on earth through discipleship in the Life of His Son. Yes, it can hurt in self-sacrifice, Christian-Cross-style.

But the benefits are out of this world!

On the other hand, the love which we receive from our elected leaders costs us both in the short run, and in the long run. We vote them in to office to bring peace and justice. They give us peace, socialistically, and justice, progressively. We end up broke, divorced, aborted, euthanized, decedent, deceived, duped, and vulnerable to the wolves of the world.

Hardly shepherds caring for their sheep!

"O God, with your judgment endow the king, and with your justice, the king’s son; He shall govern your people with justice and your afflicted ones with judgment. The mountains shall yield peace for the people, and the hills justice. He shall defend the afflicted among the people, save the children of the poor." Psalm 72:1-4, 7-8

God's Lordship cradles the weakest of the weak in His arms, protecting them from the strongest of the strong. The lordship of men and women of the world talks the talk of 'social justice,' but rips unborn babies, limb from limb, like a 500 pound bully ape! God's Lordship is the gentle Yoke of Christ, forgiving all sin, re-creating all sinners. The lordship of men and women of the unbelieving world is the steel shackles of Political Correctness, and the rusty guillotine of inclusiveness, and tolerance.

They are, after all, the sharp and nasty lies of deception in service to the lordship of evil.

"When Jesus saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them,
for they were like sheep without a shepherd;
and he began to teach them many things.
By now it was already late and his disciples approached him and said,
'This is a deserted place and it is already very late.
Dismiss them so that they can go
to the surrounding farms and villages
and buy themselves something to eat.'
He said to them in reply,
'Give them some food yourselves
.' Mark 6:34-44

Only God is benevolent in transcendent ways. The Eucharist is the gift that keeps on giving all the way to (from) heaven. Bishops, pastors, and priests, though necessary, and valid, never deliver the Bread from heaven themselves--though, without a priest there is no Eucharist. They are moreover, weighted down by, both, our immature adulation of them--treating them like rock stars--and our spiteful attacks on their human inadequacies through vulture media and popular depictions (and distortions) of priestly scandal.

The point is, our shepherds need both our undying support and our Spirit led Christian discernment, since God alone is the Good Shepherd…and we are His sheep.
