Thai food in Arlington Heights

If you love the aroma of lemongrass and garlic or flavors of basil and spicy chilies try out the local Thai eateries in Arlington Heights. Located downtown, Alt Thai is set in a comfy yet sophisticated atmosphere specializing in fresh, authentic Thai specialties like Soft-Shell Crab Rolls, Rama Chicken and Lamb Massamun Curry. They also serve the traditional curry and noodle dishes in mild, medium and spicy to satisfy a range of palates. Lunch entrées start at $7 and include Tom Yum soup, cucumber salad and an egg roll or pot stickers garnished to perfection. Alt Thai offers an impressive wine list by the bottle or glass. The restaurant will deliver within a 3 mile radius for dinner only. Reservations are accepted but not required.

Located right across the tracks on Arlington Heights Road is Gumrai Thai. The restaurant is fast becoming a local favorite with house specialties like Sea bass Panang and Salmon Curry. Don't forget to try the Papaya Salad or the traditional Pad Thai. Sushi lovers will enjoy the Tako (Octopus) or Maguro Tuna as an appetizer or light meal. The restaurant offers Japanese specialties like the Bento Box Teriyaki which includes accompanied with cucumber salad, California Maki and sushi. Gumrai serves wine by the glass or bottle but check out a Thai beer like Sing Ha or Chang. Lunch starts at $7 and also comes with an appetizer and soup.

A few miles south, in the former Tamarind Thai location is Thai Little Home. The restaurant first opened for business in 1973 then closed in 2006 after a successful run. After word got around of their closing, customer demand prompted the owners to re-open at the current location. Stop by to try the Thai twist Chicken Noodle Soup with bean sprouts, green onions and cilantro, deep fried Thai calamari served with a sweet chili sauce or the Pad Woon Sen-bean thread noodles stir fried with onions, egg, carrots and other vegetables combined with your choice of meat. Cool off with the Thai Iced coffee or tea topped with evaporated milk. Add an authentic and fabulous finish to your meal with Thai Banana Pie or Banana Rolls. Thai Little Home is BYOB.
