Once if you’re lucky in a lifetime, you meet that one individual who exudes confidence, enthusiasm for what they do, releases a positive energy, and has the ability to understand that life is one big learning opportunity where ‘either you take advantage of it, or it takes advantage of you’.
I am fortunate to have met that individual in my lifetime, that being Thaddine Swift Eagle Johnson, who now has made her mark around the world with her proficiency in the world of combat sports, art, and mentoring young children in her Durango, Colorado, community making an impact in so many ways she probably has yet to comprehend.
Having previously profiled Thaddine Swift Eagle (November of 2010) I fully understand how she has risen to celebrity status, something she will no doubt humbly accept, and not just for her more than impressive combat sports dominance but for all that she brings to the table.
First I must say that contrary to the belief of many, Thaddine Swift Eagle is the birth name of Ms. Johnson who hails from Queens, New York, where she honed her skills as a painter, gymnast, photographer, and combat sports enthusiast before coming to Durango with her mother.
Second for me to discuss Thaddine Swift Eagle Johnson is something I could do for hours on end, but take the time to view this wonderful piece done by the BBC ‘First Person’ video series that ‘tells the story of unique individuals from all walks of life in their own words’.
Her African-American/Native American background's have toughened Thaddine Swift Eagle in her resolve in attempting to help others understand we are part of the human race and ‘we are all in this together’.
Thaddine Swift Eagle Johnson is truly an American Hero.
I am so very proud to have not only met this special young lady, but to have her as a dear friend is truly one of the highlights of my life.
Again, take time and view the BBC 'First Person' video that this week profiled Colorado's own Thaddine Swift Eagle Johnson, but recognizes other unique persons every Monday.
