TextFree with Voice now on iPhone and Android

Pinger has made TextFree even better than ever.  Now, iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad users can accept free calls with their dedicated TextFree messaging phone number.  This is an impressive feature, making the iPod Touch and iPad able to handle phone calls in a WiFi hotspot like a smartphone.  According to TechCrunch, TextFree users made 2.5 billion phone calls in the first ten days after TextFree with Voice was released in December 2010.  Although there are a limited number of introductory minutes available, users are free to purchase more minutes or earn minutes by downloading apps or responding to other TextFree Facebook Fan Page promotions.

TextFree allows members to send and receive unlimited text messages for free with a dedicated phone number.  Also, the voice option allows subscribers to save minutes from their phone service as well.  Now that iPhone devotees can choose between AT&T and Verizon as their calling plan, this means that there is a huge new market for subscribers to eliminate data transmission charges from texting.  Pinger has also added picture texting functionality, so users can also send pictures without incurring additional data transmission charges.

Users can text to any phone number on any carrier.  However, texting to carrier specific short codes that are not ten digit phone numbers is not feasible because TextFree is not associated with any of the major cell phone carriers.  However, for free texting, TextFree with Voice and Picture messaging is unsurpassed in usability and cost savings.

TextFree in Android Market

As of Feb 4, TextFree is now available for Android smartphones, so more smartphone users have a free way to text, call and send pictures.  Both the Apple app and the Android app are available for download free at iTunes and Android Market, respectively.  For even more functionality, existing users can send and receive text messages directly from their PC or Mac computers via http://www.pinger.com/textfree, using their account login.

Wi-Fi users can take plenty of advantage of Pinger TextFree in a number of growing locations, especially Baltimore locations like McDonald's, Starbucks, Chick-Fil-A and the Anne Arundel County Public Library system.
