Impact Teen Drivers, Otter LLC, and the California State Superintendent of Schools, Jack O’Connell, held a press conference last Thursday, June 3 to commemorate the graduation season with hope and encouragement for teenage drivers to be responsible and safe behind the wheel.

Teen driver crashes are the leading cause of death for our nation’s youth.

To this end, Impact Teen Drivers is partnering with Otter to offer its life-saving text-management application to teens and their parents.

OTTER will silence all incoming texting and phone call ringtones while the user is in a moving vehicle, plus initiate a response to incoming texts telling others they are driving.

Otter is available for a modest $3.99 - one-time fee.

Jon Hamm is the President and founder of Impact Teen Drivers, and CEO of the California Association of Highway Patrolmen. “We’re impressed with Otter. It’s a powerful, effective solution to help prevent the deaths of young people that cause our highway patrolmen so much stress in their jobs.”

Erik Woods of Seattle, Washington is the founder and CEO of Otter. After his 3-year-old daughter was nearly killed by a woman who was texting and driving, he emptied his children’s college fund to design and put this text management application in the hands of every driver.

“That woman who missed my daughter within an inch while driving and texting away was oblivious to what happened,” said Woods, “We need to have a tool that will enable us to put down the phone and drive.”

“I want to encourage teens, parents and anyone who operates a vehicle to think about what you are going to do to change your driving habits and encourage others to do the same,” said O’Connell. “The life you save could be yours, your child’s or your best friend’s.”
