Michelle Lorraine Lehman, 41, will spend one year in jail after being found guilty of nine charges of animal cruelty stemming from the discovery of dozens of abused and neglected animals on her property.
Investigators discovered that not only were the animals suffering from clear signs of neglect, including open wounds and an infestation of parasites, but they appeared to have been abused.
Some animals were tied up, without access to food or water, until they died. The animals who did not survive wound up buried behind a barn on Lehman's property.
The jury deliberated for just two hours before finding Lehman guilty on all counts. In addition to her time behind bars, she has been ordered to pay $4,000 per count of animal cruelty.
