In LaPorte, Texas, Roben Jones of 315 North Second Street was charged and arrested on Thursday because the dog she owned as a puppy was acting strangely, and Jones decided to put the dog down.
According to kens5.com,Jones told authorities she had called Animal Control to come and get the dog, but when they didn't show up, she put the dog in her car with no food or water.
Jones faces felony animal cruelty charges.
The dog was left in the car for over 15 hours and when Animal Control arrived, the dog had died.
Jones said she had overslept.
Jones was booked into the Harris County Jail.
"If the dog was acting aggressively or strangely as Jones called it, she should have taken the dog to her vet before she took it upon herself to be so cruel. How people live with themselves for making animals suffer is beyond my comprehension," stated Peggy Moore of Waterville, Maine. "I have had dogs since I was two years old, and would never think of taking it upon myself to make a decision about a pet's life or death. I hope she gets more than a slap on the wrist."
