Texas Twitter Tuesday will be held on the first Wednesday of the month in February, rather than the usual first Tuesday. The change is being made to join up with another Twitter Tasting with #WineChat. In March, Texas Twitter Tuesday will return to Tuesday.
#WineChat is co-hosted by Todd Godbout and Marie Payton every Wednesday at 8 p.m. The Twitter event will include Virginia winemakers as well as Texas winemakers, so there will be a bit more variety this time.
The focus in February is on Viognier, a grape that grows well here in Texas. Because of the interstate nature of this TweetChat, they hosts are leaving the choice of Viogniers up to us, the audience. When you choose your tasting wine (or wines), let them know at the Facebook event site.
Some winners of last year's Texas Sommelier Tasting Program were Lone Oak Winery's 2010 Viognier and Brennan Vineyards' 2009 Viognier. Barking Rocks Winery, Brennan Vineyards, and Alamosa Wine Cellars on the Way Out Wineries Trail produce Viogniers worth trying.
To participate in Texas Twitter Tuesday, log in to Twitter (free to sign up) and go to the WineChat TweetChat room – notice that's different from the usual GoTexan TweetChat room. No registration or RSVP is required. Just show up at 8 p.m. on February 8, 2012 and join the discussion.
Join the conversation and share your thoughts and ask any questions you might have. Use the hashtags #WineChat and #TXwine with your tweets.
Hope to see you there.
