Texas Twitter Tuesday is on June 7 this month. Two guests will host the twitter chat this time around.
Elizabeth Hadley, Assistant Commissioner for Marketing at the Texas Department of Agriculture, will announce a major new initiative to promote and support restaurants that offer Texas wines. With more than two hundred wineries in Texas, it seems like more restaurants should be offering Texas wines in their wine lists, but many still don't.
Jack Gilmore, owner and chef of Jack Allen's Kitchen in Austin, is well-known for his locavore philosophy. He extends his locavore ideals to the “locapour” movement and offers Texas wines in Jack Allen's Kitchen to pair with his regional cuisine.
This month, the three wines in the virtual tasting will be:
- Fall Creek Chardonnay – Fall Creek Chardonnay has notes of tropical and citrus fruit and oak. Fall Creek Vineyards is outside of Tow, Texas, about 85 miles from Austin.
- McPherson Cellars Rose – The rose has notes of berries and cherries and rose petals. McPherson Cellars is located near Lubbock.
- Messina Hof Cabernet Franc – This blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot has notes of blackberries, vanilla, and spices. Messina Hof Winery is located near College Station.
