Texas Stars pound Toronto Marlies in slugfest

With their second sellout crowd of the season the Texas Stars decided to put on a show beating the visiting Toronto Marlies 5-1 in a game that featured 54 minutes in penalties and a thwarted penalty shot by the Marlies.  The Stars made the most of their opportunities putting 5 of their 20 shots on goal past Marlie goaltender Joey MacDonald 2 of those coming on power plays.

The road must be beginning to take its toll on the Toronto Marlies who are in the middle of an 8 game road trip.  With only 1:46 gone in the game, Marlies defenseman Phil Oreskovic decided he needed to take out some of his frustration on Stars left wing Francis Wathier.  That set the tone of the game that had a number of scuffles and 30 minutes in fighting penalties.  

Matt Climie was back in the goal for the Stars and had a strong night stopping 23 of Toronto's 24 shots including a penalty shot by Marlie left wing Kyle Calder.  Warren Peters was the game's #1 star scoring the first goal of the game at 3:34 of the second period.
